Hey Essek! It's Jester! [obviously] Hey, so, it's not super important or whatever but I was wondering if you like pancakes? I made a ton of them for dinner but I made way too many, and everyone else is asleep so thought I'd ask if you're hungry! Okay, thanks, talk to you soon!

Jester-! [ you know, in that same pleasantly surprised voice he always has when she messages him out of the blue ]

Oh...yes, thank you, that sounds nice. I will see you soon.

[ and a few minutes later he is floating curiously into the kitchen, in Caleb's shirt loosely buttoned over dark leggings, and barefoot. he settles himself down next to her at the counter. ]

[There's a small box wrapped in newspaper waiting on Essek's desk in the study one day, tied up with a pale blue ribbon. Inside is a silver earring in the shape of a crescent moon. Dangling from the stud is a silver chain ending in a simple silver bar; another chain attaches to a matching silver cuff, intended to wrap around the upper part of the ear.

The note attached reads: Never forget how special you are to all of us! ♡ J]

[ The earring is beautiful, reminiscent of similar pieces he'd had to leave behind in Rosohna. Essek doesn't consider himself to be especially materialistic, but occasionally he missed some of the finer things he had owned...just because of how nice it had felt to wear them. Presentation had always been important, of course, but that didn't mean he couldn't enjoy it in his own way.

But it's the note that makes his heart do a little flip-flop. A swirl of emotion, happy and pleased and a little...bittersweet...as he sends a note to Jester: ]
