Jester-! [ you know, in that same pleasantly surprised voice he always has when she messages him out of the blue ]
Oh...yes, thank you, that sounds nice. I will see you soon.
[ and a few minutes later he is floating curiously into the kitchen, in Caleb's shirt loosely buttoned over dark leggings, and barefoot. he settles himself down next to her at the counter. ]
[Secretly, Jester lives for that tone of voice. Every time she Sends to someone and they sound even a little happy to hear her, she becomes 100% more powerful.
When Essek finds her, she's still cooking off the remainder of the pancake batter she so overzealously made, which is apparent in the fact that beside her on the counter is a plate containing no less than twenty pancakes, with more to come. She glances over her shoulder as she hears Essek's voice behind her, giving him a sheepish and slightly panicked grin.]
Well, good news! You're about to have the best pancakes of your life!
[The rest of the kitchen is, to put it lightly, a mess, but she doesn't seem all that bothered by it. Tongue between her teeth, she turns back to the stove so she can concentrate on flipping a pancake. (a 2...) The pancake...well, it doesn't so much flip as much as it flies up and splatters against the ceiling, and then immediately flops back down to the floor.]
[ It would be foolish to expect anything else, and yet the sight of the mess that greets him still has him grateful that he floated rather than walked over. But then he realizes quickly that he's set his hand down in some errant batter, and finds a rag to wipe it away.
Essek only narrowly misses the pancake coming down onto his head. ]
Ah- ...perhaps we should stop for now, so that we can eat them while they're still...fresh?
[Jester's eyes go wide at the narrow miss, and she laughs nervously, turning off the stove as quickly as she can considering she's still learning how to use it properly.]
Right, right! I, um. Made way too much batter.
[There's still a good cup of batter left, even! She crosses over to grab two more plates from the cupboard, and then loads each of them up with a fat stack of pancakes. Each of them gets a big hunk of butter on top, and a healthy drizzle of the real maple syrup she'd gotten from that Eskel fellow.]
Okay, these are for you... [Sliding the plate over to Essek!] Tell me what you think, okay?
[ it feels like more food than he's ever had in front of him in his life. Essek is sure he doesn't have a fraction of the sweet tooth Jester does, but he goes in for a respectable bite anyway, sure to get a mouthful with all possible flavors. His eyesbrows perk up in delightful surprise. ]
Mm-- it's good. [ another bite. ] Quite good, actually.

So I admit...I've never had pancakes before.

Really? Oh my gosh, that makes me so happy. Eat more, okay?
[She's just going to do a little happy dance, mouth full of pancakes!]
